Obituary

Jim Bean, 45, of Southbury, died peacefully Friday, December 31, 2010 at his home after a courageous battle with ALS. He was the loving husband of Kelly Turner Bean and the adoring father of Kelsey and Sam.
Jim was born July 11, 1965 in New Haven, CT, the son of Richard and Joanne Bean of Wallingford, CT. He was also survived by his sister Lori Bean Hoelscher and her husband, Mike and his brothers Rick and Jeff and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, his family by marriage, friends and former colleagues.
Jim was a 1983 graduate of Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford and 1987 graduate of Denison University in Ohio. While at Denison, he made his mark as a national-level champion diver, runner and pole-vaulter. After graduation, he was happy to leave the cold behind and move to the warm, sunny climate of Los Angeles, California. There he met his wife, Kelly and they returned to Connecticut in 1991.
Jim worked as a software developer for several companies, including Duracell, Waldenbooks, and most recently, The Entrepreneurs Source in Southbury.
A big part of Jim's life was spent with his family and friends on Lake Lillinonah. A perfect day for him was waterskiing and wakeboarding in the early morning with his "crew," spending the afternoon on the boat with his kids & their friends, teaching them to ski or encouraging his kids to learn "new tricks" and then ending the day at the beach with a bonfire. He also enjoyed dirt-biking, quad-riding, guitar playing, and anything to do with his children. Jim was a unique person who lived life fully in every aspect.
