Jessie Grant Buist, 98, died peacefully Sunday March 23, 2014. She was the daughter of Hugh and Isabel Grant and was born on January 30, 1916 in New York City. She married Stanley Buist in 1942 prior to his enlistment in the United Sates Army. After World War II they relocated to Westchester County, New York and resided in Ossining and Briarcliff Manor where they raised their two sons. She had a successful career with both Westchester Community College and as secretary to the President of Briarcliff College (now part of Pace University).
Jessie was a devoted mother and Grandmother and was deeply loved by her family and friends. She is survived by her two sons. Gordon G. Buist (daughter-in-law Kathleen B. Buist) of Woodbury Connecticut and Donald R. Buist of Delmar, New York. She had four grandchildren, Gordon P. Buist (wife, Carrie) of Urbana, Maryland, Julie Buist Antonucci (husband, Frank) of New Milford, Connecticut, Eric R. Buist of Delmar, New York and Paul M. Buist of Delmar New York. Seven Great Grandchildren: Mackenzie, Madison, Mia and Mason Antonucci as well as Kennedy, Carson and Kaylee Buist.
The Buist family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers at 'The Hearth' assisted living in Southbury, Connecticut where Jessie resided for the past five years. She will be missed by all.
