IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeffrey Joseph
Magyar
September 3, 1959 – September 15, 2025
Jeffrey J. Magyar, 66, passed away on Monday September 15, 2025 at his home in Southbury, CT after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family.
Jeff was a man defined by love, family, loyalty, and hard work. He carried himself with quiet strength and a generous heart, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. To those who knew him, Jeff was steady and dependable – The kind of person who could be counted on without question.
For 23 years, Jeff was married to the love of his life Eliza Magyar. Together they built a home filled with laughter, devotion, and unwavering support for one another and their family.
Born in Norwalk, CT to Joseph (deceased) and Dorothy Magyar. Jeff was the proud father of Jeffrey Magyar, Kayla Magyar, Patrick Magyar, and Jessica Magyar. The Devoted stepfather of Jesse Lind and wife Pamela, and Tyler Hettel. A loving brother to his sisters Janis (and husband Allen) Jones, Jill Magyar, and his brother Glenn (and wife Melissa) Magyar. As well as many nieces and nephews.
One of the greatest joys of Jeff's life was being "Pop Pop" to his 7 cherished grandchildren; Daniel, Paige, Max, Charlotte, Hannah, Jacob, and Finley, who adored him as much as he adored them.
Jeff had a long career in the environmental field, having recently retired from Metro North Railroad after 16 years. First working at NEPCCO, American Environmental Technologies and Moran Environmental Recovery where he was known for his hard work, and dedication which made him respected by many. Jeff was also a proud member of the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Department in Bethel, CT for 15 years before he moved to Southbury. Several of his children followed in his footsteps into the environmental field and with the fire department.
Jeff loved spending time with his grandchildren who all loved his silliness. He embraced life with a sense of adventure and simple pleasures. He loved traveling, camping, hiking, biking and he was always on the lookout for wildlife or a shooting star. He also enjoyed working on his many projects, making maple syrup, riding rollercoasters and ziplines, or just relaxing watching NASCAR and the Jets.
Though he is gone far too soon, the legacy of Jeff's kindness, perseverance and diligence will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.
