Obituary

Jeannette Wilcock was born in Sutton Manor, St. Helens, England on October 5, 1918. She lived in CT from 1970 to 1986 when she moved to Florida with her husband and family, and in 2007 spent three months in England.. Jeannette moved from DeLand, FL to Waterbury, CT toward the end of 2008. She died at Waterbury Hospital on December 15, 2009.

Jeannette is survived by her daughter, Fredie Winstanley of Waterbury, CT, and her son, Alan Wilcock (whereabouts unknown), her granddaughter, Heidi Jean Middelmann of Woodbury, and her grandson, Geoffrey Gerd Middelmann of Arkansas, her great-granddaughter, Ashley Courtland Middlemann of Woodbury, and her niece, Margaret (Peg) Farrar, of St. Helens, England. Her ex-son-in-law, Gerd Middelmann also of Arkansas.

For many years, Jenny got a lot of pleasure out of knitting, crocheting and solving crossword puzzles.

Just before she died, she was working on a dog coat-all she had left to do was to knit the rib and finish off around the paw holes. In the end, she had become very tired and fatigued and couldn't concentrate long enough to complete it. Fredie says she will try to finish it for her.

Jenny was born in England and attended church regularly-she first started going to church when her mother, Mary Ellen, took her to choir practice when still a baby. When she was quite young, she joined the choir with her mother-her biggest accomplishment was singing the Hallelujah Chorus following all the practice and training by their director, the choir master-it was always very dear to her. She was born at a time when there wasn't many 'comforts of home' as we know today, but from what she has related to her family, she had a loving home with God always in it. She was a loving faithful wife to her husband, Harley. Jenny, like her mother, loved the Lord, without question.

Jenny came to the United States with her husband, Harley, in 1970, to join her daughter, Fredie, and her husband Gerd, and their two grandchildren, Heidi and Geoffrey. She enjoyed her new country of America. She and her husband found a lot of fun in membership of various clubs around Connecticut. In 1986 she moved with her husband and family to Miami Beach, Florida and loved the ever-present sunshine. Jenny enjoyed being a member of the British club in Miami, Florida, where she found several friendships, taking trips and a short cruise along the way. It's safe to say she enjoyed her time in America.

She always loved singing and was very adept at remembering the words of so many songs, even if she hadn't heard them for a long time, Another past-time she loved was dancing-Jenny and her husband could dance the night away and never seemed to tire.

She remained independent until the end, and was able to live in her own apartment until she went into hospital on November 30th. She gave a valiant try to recover from the surgery she had just undergone, but in the end, the Lord said it's time for her to go home.

Toward the end, her mind reverted back as if she felt she were still in England, and on may occasions she'd bring up the names of her English family members, Peg and Jean, as if she were expecting them to stop by at any minute.

Gerd, her ex-son-in-law says even through the difficult times that seem inevitable with mother's-in-law, he always called her Mom, even after he and Fredie divorced, and until the day Jenny died. Gerd did much, and willingly, to help Jenny and Harley get settled in the United States.

Ashley, her great-granddaughter, was always sweet and tender to her 'Gran Gran' and thinks of her with much affection.

Geoff, her grandson, says she was always close by when he was growing up, either living with the family or close by. Geoff always feels the closeness to his family deeply, especially living away from family in Arkansas.

Heidi, her granddaughter, remembers going to Grandma's house and sitting on the carpet putting puzzles together or counting the money in the change jar. She says she is also grateful for the time she was able to spend with Ashley, especially because for the past 17 years they have had the privilege of being four-generations of females in the family.
Fredie, her daughter, will miss her mother, Jenny, always, but with the knowledge and peace of mind that she is now safely and happily with Jesus in heaven.

Go with God, Jenny.
