Obituary

Jean M. Wurster of 497B Heritage Village, Southbury, died Monday, June 30, 2008. She was the wife of Warren L. Wurster who died in July, 1992. Mrs. Wurster was born April 8, 1917 in Birmingham, Alabama, daughter of the late Robert and Ella Yolton. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1938 studying at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and at the Cincinnati College of Music, majoring in piano, organ and violin.
Mrs. Wurster began studying piano with her mother at the age of five and at the age of eight began violin lessons at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. At 12, she soloed with the Conservatory Orchestra and began teaching piano at the age of 13. During her long career as a professional musician, she worked as an organist, choir and hand bell choir director for churches located in Ohio, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware and Florida. She also played violin in a number of orchestras, most recently in the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. While living in Rhode Island, she not only held organ positions but taught piano privately for many years.
Mrs. Wurster is survived by her 3 sons and four daughters, Barbara Williams of Essex Junction, Vt., Richard Wurster of Darien, Ct., Michael Wurster of Acton, Mass., Kathleen Wurster of Somerset, N.J., Mary Wurster of New Castle, Del., Thomas Wurster of Los Angeles, Ca. and Leslie Colomb of Williston, Vt. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Services: Funeral Thursday July 3rd at 11: 00 a.m. at Valley Presbyterian Church, 21 West Whisconier Road, Brookfield, Ct. Burial is private in Pine Hill Cemetery

Visitation: Calling hours Wednesday July 2nd from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North.
