Mrs. Jean M. (MacCallum) Hellyar, 75, of North George's Hill Rd., passed away at home Tuesday October 31st. She was born March 11, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, New York daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Beach) MacCallum. She grew up in Pelham Manor, NY graduated from Pelham High School and received her degree in fine arts from Skidmore College in upstate New York.
Mrs. Hellyar had resided in Southbury since 1972. She enjoyed a successful business in Interior Design and was actively involved in the American Society of Interior Design where she held several offices. Her hobbies included oil painting, tennis, and golf and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her former husband Rick Hellyar of Stratford, a son Scott Hellyar and his wife Jacqueline of Waterbury, a daughter Tracy Mandy and her husband Robert of New Hampshire, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday November 3rd from 6:00 - 9:00pm at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 235 Main St. North. A Memorial Service will be held at Noon, Saturday November 4th at the United Church of Christ, Southbury. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
