Jean M. Castella, 57, of Hogsback Rd., passed away on Tuesday, November, 24 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Richard M. Castella.
Jean was born March 25, l952 in Hampton, VA., the daughter of Helen A. (Laframboise) Byrnes, currently residing in Dalton, MA. and the late William B. Byrnes.
In addition to her mother and husband she is survived by her sister, Nancy and brother-in-law Richard Tiernan of Port Charlotte, FL., two nieces: Jennifer Sime, of Chicago, IL., and Amy Pesavento and her husband Barton, of Herdon, VA., her nephew and Godson, Michael Sime and his wife Katie of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI., two grandnieces: Elena and Lila Pesavento of Herndon, VA., along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jean attended the University of New Haven and successfully completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was employed at Naugatuck Saving Bank for 27 years as a branch manager and loan officer at the Oxford branch until her retirement in 2006. She loved to help people, and through her job with genuine caring and compassion accomplished that goal. Jean was also co-editor of the first bank newspaper and former member of the Oxford Rotary. Jean was an avid Red Sox's and Patriot's fan. She had a special affection for animals and adored her cat Spudie who traveled with her and husband throughout the northeast. Jean loved to cook - it was her passion to create special meals each and everyday.
She will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Waterbury Hospital for their devoted care.
