WOODBURY

LEWIS - Janet (Drescher) Lewis of Minortown Road passed away peacefully at Waterbury Hospital on Friday, December 26, 2014. A lifelong resident of Woodbury, Mrs. Lewis was born in Waterbury on April 26, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Carl W. Drescher, Sr. and Marion (Allen) Drescher. She was predeceased by her loving husband LeRoy Lewis, Jr. and her brother Carl Drescher, Jr.

Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a BS degree in Business Administration. She began her career at the Waterbury Companies before taking many years off to raise her sons. Upon returning to the work place she was an employee of Woodbury Savings Bank, the Banking Center and Centerbank, before working for the Region #14 School District in the Business Office.

Mrs. Lewis was an active member of the North Congregational Church where she served in many capacities, including as the clerk for many years. She was also a member of the North Church Women's Fellowship, the Woman's Club of Woodbury, the Red Hat Society and the Co-Founder and Past-President of the Woodbury Junior Woman's Club.

She cherished her family, was proud of the fact she lived her entire life in Woodbury and was a lifelong Red Sox fan.

Survived by her two sons; Lee Lewis and his wife Jan of Watertown and David and his wife Linda of Cheshire; her grandchildren, Jennifer, Steven and Kelly Lewis; and Michael and Jay Lewis.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers the family asks for Memorial Contributions to be made to the Scholarship Fund of North Congregational Church, 11 Main Street North, Woodbury, CT 06798.
