Obituary

Jane H. Salomon, 83, of Southbury died Monday March 4th, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Salomon was born on September 18, 1929, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Hamburger. She attended P.S. 152, Packer Collegiate Institute, Mt Holyoke College and Adelphi University. After World War II, she worked with the Red Cross locating and uniting displaced persons in Europe with their relatives in America. She resided in Southbury since 1992, and previously had lived on Long Island for many years. While living there she was involved in many civic, educational and religious groups. When her children were grown she became a paralegal. She worked at a prominent law firm in Mineola, NY until she retired. She was a founder of the Long Island Paralegal Association and served on the New York Board.
Jane and her late husband, Jay, moved to Heritage Village in 1992. She was active there in many clubs; her condo board, she delivered Meals on Wheels and founded a support group for persons with COPD. She was a Red Hatter. In 2008, Mrs. Salomon moved to The Watermark. She continued her volunteer work with the Sisterhood of B'Nai Israel and with the National Council of Jewish Women, and was an officer and board member of both. She had many hobbies, particularly reading, needlework, gardening, doing puzzles, crafts of all kinds, collecting miniatures and creating small structures. She continued her enjoyment of doing crafts with a local group.
She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Berman of Novato, CA, and Ellen Seh of Larkspur, CA, a grandson, Jay Elliot Berman, and by the Moon family in Chicago, IL.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made to the Jason & Jane Salomon Fund at the Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut, B'Nai Israel or any charity of the donor's choice.

Services: A memorial service is being held on Thursday March 7th at 2pm at B'Nai Israel, 444 Main St. North, Southbury.

Visitation: There are no calling hours.
