Obituary

James T. Tomascak, 75, of Southbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025.

Born March 7, 1950, to the late Andrew and Veronica (Piskura) Tomascak, Jim lived a full and loving life surrounded by family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Deborah J. Tomascak (DuBois) for 42 years until her passing on January 27, 2022. Together they built a beautiful life filled with family, hard work, and unconditional love.

He retired after over 30 years as a taper for Drywall Associates where he met his wife, Deborah.  Above all, Jim loved being around his family, and weekend visits to his mothers were among his best memories; he never missed a chance to enjoy her homemade apple pies, halushki, or one of her many treasured Czechoslovakian dishes. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and loved to go fishing at the lake at the training school.

Jim was the proud and devoted father of Renee Kostrna (Edward), James Tomascak (Bridget), and Daniel Tomascak (Greta). His greatest joy was being "Peepaw" to his six grandchildren: Josh Palmisani, Cody and Chase Kostrna, Brooke and Peyton Tomascak, and Clara Tomascak along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friend Chris Dumas.

He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara, Cecilia, Tina, Marion, Robert and his brothers-in-law David DuBois (Sherry) and Gary DuBois (Kathy).  He was predeceased by his siblings: Sister Isidore (Agnes), Margie, Billy, Methodius, Albert, Andrew, Peter and Cyril.

With his warm smile, good looks, quick wit, and always being willing to help out family and friends in need, Jim will be deeply missed by his family and those that got to know him.

Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, with a prayer service beginning at 4:30 held at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or, as Jim would have preferred, by spending extra time with the people you love—just like he always did.
