Ida Preti Cook of Woodbury, CT passed away on Thursday, November 26th at Rose Haven Rest Home, Litchfield, CT. Born in Pontremoli, Italy on June 27th, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Angelo Preti and Vittoria (Bellotti) Preti.
She arrived at Ellis Island in the United States in 1925 and lived in the
Bronx, NY and then Woodbury CT as an owner of a summer residence since 1951 and a permanent residence since 1985. She was a graduate of Hunter College and was a teacher at
the NYC school system for 35 years where she taught and mentored many young
minds.
The passions of her life were family, gardening, and photography. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son William Cook and his wife Rosemarie of Litchfield, CT. She also leaves grandchildren Jillian Cook, Lauren Werkhoven and husband Scott Werkhoven and great grandchildren Alexis, Andrew, Jacob, and Brody, her brother Richard Preti
and his wife Gail Preti, and sister-in-law Rosalie Preti and many loved
nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her son Richard Cook, husband Herman Cook and her brother Aldo Preti.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday November 30th at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Woodbury, CT.
Visitation: Calling hours will be held 9am - 11am Monday November 30th at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home in Woodbury, CT, 2 School St. until leaving for Mass.
