Obituary

Huntley (Red) Holmes passed away in his sleep on July 18th.
Red leaves behind his beloved wife, June, stepson David and his wife, Denise, in Exeter, NH, sister Mary and husband, Tim, and their daughter, Liana, in LaChine, Montreal and much extended family and many friends.

Red was born Huntley Herbert Holmes in Strathmore, Quebec on 3rd September, 1931 to Reginald Herbet Holmes and Emily Maud Huntley.
He attended Riverview Elementary where he met his lifelong friend, Doug, Verdun High School and Sir George Williams University.

Red worked for Dictaphone as a Field Engineer for 40 years in Canada and the US. It was when he came to the States that he first became 'Red'. 'Huntley' was a bit formal for his new American friends!
He traveled extensively throughout the US, Asia and Europe, accompanied by June whenever possible.
Red loved his job and the stories he brought home were always humorous and amazing.
He had enormous charisma with a wonderful outlook on life - and it showed.

Red loved radios all his life and realized his dream of becoming a HAM radio operator after he retired. He communicated with fiends and operators all over the world, including the Commander of the International Space Station.

He was an avid member of the local Radio Club and an ARES second responder, working with Police, Fire and Medical staff.

He belonged to the Annawon Lodge in West Haven and King Solomon's Lodge in Woodbury.

Although a dual citizen of Canada and the US, he was a true citizen of the world and will be missed by so many, especially his friends in the US and Canada where June and Red spent their summers on Corkum's Island, NS.
