Honour E. White


Honour Sarah Hallowell Edgelow White passed away the morning of September 27, after a long battle with heart disease. She was a warm, intelligent, delightful, woman. An amazing mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and loyal companion to Maggie, her beloved dog.


She leaves behind her two sons John W. Ghoreyeb Jr. and Thomas Ford Ghoreyeb, a daughter, Honour Judith Iantosca, as well as two daughters-in-law, Leslie Kravitz and Mary Beth Ghoreyeb. She had four grandsons, Anthony Iantosca, Nicholas Iantosca, Ian Ghoreyeb, Evan Ghoreyeb, as well as a granddaughter, Elena Capazzoli, one great granddaughter, Mia Capazzoli and one great grandson, Leo Capazzoli, sisters, Marjorie Hale and Carole Howe as well as a honorary daughter Joanne Ray. Her dear stepdaughter, Patricia White, predeceased her. She always affected those around her growing her extended family, while somehow remaining in close correspondence with countless cousins, nieces, nephews, grandogs and a countless number wonderful and devoted friends.


She was born in Springfield, MA on Nov 5, 1929, the third daughter of Dr. Arthur Edgelow and Cybel Lighthall Edgelow. She attended the MacDuffie School, Bishop Strahan School in Toronto Canada and Pine Manor College in Wellesley MA.


She married John W. Ghoreyeb and made a home in Cheshire, CT for their three children. After over twenty years of marriage, she divorced and married Carl White with whom she remained happily married until his death.


Always challenging herself intellectually, she attained her master's degree in her 60s and taught at Cheshire Academy for many years. She loved music, books, books, books, dogs, theater, writing, art and people. A gracious, warm and loving lady, she will be so greatly missed.
