Homer Frederick Lutjen Jr., aged 87, passed away on August 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Lutjen for 63 wonderful years, a partnership that exemplified deep devotion and companionship.

Born August 25, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, Homer’s journey through life took him from Long Island to upstate New York, then to Ohio, and eventually to the picturesque landscapes of Connecticut where he set down roots in Heritage Village. His 35-year career as a sales representative with R.G. Barry highlighted his remarkable people skills and his genuine care for others. This caring nature guided him toward deeply engaging in Sacred Heart Church in Southbury, where he served in various church ministries, demonstrating his faith through action. Homer proudly served as a Stephen Minister. Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life and share a passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need. They are also affectionally known as “companions on the journey”.

Homer embraced life with a spirit of adventure. He found joy in physical fitness, sailing, and biking alongside Pat, creating cherished memories through their shared passions. His involvement in activities at Heritage Village brought him immense happiness, allowing him to connect with others in his community.

In addition to his devoted wife Pat, Homer leaves behind his beloved daughter: Teresa Helbock of Manalapan, N.J., and granddaughter Allison Helbock of Brick, N.J.; grandson Tommy Helbock and his wife Amanda of Morganville, N.J.; and Joey Helbock of Manalapan, N.J. He is also survived by his devoted sister Alice Langan of Cheshire, CT, along with several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 10:00am held at Sacred Heart Church located 910 Main St. N. Southbury, Connecticut. Burial will follow at New North Cemetery in Woodbury.
