Hildegard C.
Lange
February 20, 1942 – May 5, 2026
Hildegard Christel Lange (née Sedelies), age 84, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Born on February 20, 1942, in Germany, daughter of the late Marta Taschies. Hildegard later immigrated to the United States, where she lived briefly in Brooklyn, New York before making her home in Naugatuck, Connecticut. She shared many cherished years with her beloved husband, Oskar G. Lange, who predeceased her in July 2020. For the past six years, Hildegard was a resident of The Lutheran Home of Southbury, where she received wonderful care and kindness from the staff.
She was also predeceased by her two siblings, her brother Johann Taschies and her sister Anna Strack, both of Germany. A devoted mother, Hildegard is survived by her six children: Richard Lange and his wife Rhoda of Bristol, CT; Victor Lange and his wife Sherri of Naugatuck, CT; Alfred Lange and his wife Kristen of Pinellas Park, FL; Ronald Lange and his wife Tina of Oberlin, LA; Lori Lange of Las Vegas, NV; and Lisa Roche and her husband Tim of Southbury, CT. She was a loving grandmother to Kevin Lange, Adam Behuniak, Nicole Lange, Veronica Lange, Amber Dibner, Connor Kangas, and Tyler Fraser; and a proud great-grandmother to Asher Behuniak, Maverick Kangas, and Avianna Kangas. Hildegard also leaves behind extended family and cherished friends in the United States, Germany, and Lithuania.
Hildegard loved being outdoors in her garden, tending to her flower beds and watching the birds she fed with care and delight. She treasured her time with family, especially her grandchildren, and took great joy in simple moments—like taking breaks during the day to play Skip-Bo with her husband. A faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she found comfort and community in attending services and in her faith and visits from Pastor Wismar made her so happy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street, Woodbury, CT 06798, with burial to follow at Carmel Hill Cemetery.
