Herbert
Dallis
Oct 23, 1930 — Jul 2, 2026
On July 2, 2026, Herb Dallis departed this world leaving a remarkable legacy of a life fully lived as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Herb was a successful business owner, civic, leader, and a person full of love, generosity, and positivity.
If you had the pleasure of meeting Herb in any capacity, you remember him because of his incredible smile that radiated love. Herb believed that everyone deserved a chance to be loved. Herb was an active participant in his world, always eager to help others, attend events, and serve on committees.
Herb was often heard saying, “I’m so lucky”. During the 95 years he was with us he was graced with two beautiful marriages. First to Helen (Baier) who was taken too soon in 1980 and then to Regina (Brown) who passed in 2018. Herb was a loving father to his three children with Helen. They are David (Martha), Karen (Michael), and Robert (Bonnie). He had four stepchildren Larry (Maggie), David (Yulin), Susan (Danny), and Stephen (deceased). In addition to all his beloved children, there are his 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren who he adored, and with whom he shared many happy events and memories throughout the years. Finally, his many nieces and nephews will remember him fondly.
In 2024 Herb began yet another chapter in his wonderful life, when he relocated to Southbury, Connecticut from New York, where he lived for most of his life. Upon joining the East Hill community (AKA The Watermark) Herb brought his magnetic personality with him; participating in TED talks, current event groups, serving on the resident council and the dining committee. Additionally, during his four years in his new community, he made many good and faithful friends with whom he shared lots of good times. He will also be missed by his dear friends in the Port Washington, New York Community of Mill Pond acres.
Herbert was the son of Morris and Florence (Baskin) Dallis. He was born on October 23, 1930. He was the youngest of four children. He graduated from city college (Baruch) with a BA in Business Administration. Education was extremely important to her Herb, and his generosity made it possible for so many in his immediate and extended family to earn an advanced degree.
As a small business owner of Dallis Bros. Coffee, in Ozone Park, Queens, he served his community well. He was a member of the Rotary club for over four decades, and he served as a board member of the boys and girls club of Southeast Queens. Not only did Herb serve his community, but he also served stateside, in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict.
Herb embodies what it means to be a man of service; love your family, be loyal, and love your enemies, because in the end it is love that endures.
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
