IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Herbert A.
Anderson
October 7, 1922 – May 19, 2011
Herbert A. Anderson, 88, of Southbury, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, May 19th. His wife of forty years, Jean Nelson Anderson, predeceased him at the much too young age of 61.
Mr. Anderson was born October 7, 1922 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the youngest of the seven children of John and Anna Anderson, who had emigrated from Sweden. In the early 40's, he enlisted and served his country in World War II in the Signal Corps, serving in North Africa, Italy, and Germany. After the war, Mr. Anderson entered and completed college, and was married. Herb and Jean moved to Connecticut in 1957 to take a position at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, where he worked as a technical writer for over thirty years. After his retirement in 1987, he enjoyed some time at the shore in Rhode Island, and subsequently moved to Heritage Village in Southbury. An introspective and private man, his last years were filled with writing, reading, and painting.
He is survived by his daughters Lorraine Anderson of Southbury, Susan (Anderson) Cieslak, and husband Henry of Simsbury, their two children Scott Cieslak, and Jessica Starr, her husband John and two great-grandchildren children Matthew and Payton. He is also survived by his sons Keith Anderson, his wife Liza of Rocky Hill, their two children Emily and Jared, and Kenneth Anderson, his wife Abby, and their two children Jacob and Lily of Overland Park, Kansas.
