Henry Thomas Moeller, 73, died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at his home in Southbury following a battle with an aggressive cancer.
He leaves his wife of 45 years, Carol (Van De Loo) Moeller; his daughter, Heide Moeller and her husband Paul Ferreira of New Canaan, CT; his son, Daniel Abraham of Sheboygan, WI, and three grandchildren. Henry was preceded in death by his son, James Daly.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Rose Moeller, he attended Nicolet High School and University of Wisconsin in Madison and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Soil Science.
Henry worked as a soil scientist with the USDA Soil Conservation Service in Wisconsin and Michigan and transferred to Connecticut in 1971. After passage of the 1972 Connecticut Inland Wetlands Act, Henry became one of the first private soil consultants in Connecticut and was known as the "Godfather of Soils". He not only took pride in his business, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in business.
Henry enjoyed carpentry, gardening, and billiards. He will be remembered for his political banter, love of the outdoors, and sense of adventure.

Services: A memorial service will be held Saturday November 5, 2016 from 3 - 5 P.M.at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St N., Southbury.
