Miss Hazel V. Knapp of Heritage Road, died Sunday June 29, 2008 in her home. She was born in Yonkers, NY daughter of the late George O. and Lily - Amanda (Wixon) Knapp. She attended Yonkers schools and Columbia University. She took early retirement as Business Administrator of Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research to pursue her love of travel. She was a member of the National Association of Business and Professional Women and the American Red Cross.
Prior to coming to Heritage Village, Miss Knapp had been an active member of the New York Ski Club, the Lake Placid Club and the Hudson River Country Club. During World War II she served as a member of the Red Cross Motor Corps. Miss Knapp was involved in Heritage Village activities having served on many committees in various capacities.
She is survived by 2 nieces, Dale Quatrocci of North Fort Myers, Fl, Audrie Knapp of New York, New York, and a great-grandniece, Susan LaBudde of Cooperstown, New York.
Contributions may be made in her name to the United Church of Christ, 283 Main St. N., Southbury, CT 06488. The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 235 Main St. N., is in charge of arrangements.

Services: A Memorial service will be held Thursday July 31 at the United Church of Christ, 283 Main St. North., Southbury at 11am. Burial will be in the Cold Springs Cemetery in Cold Spring on Hudson, New York.
