Harriett Rosenfield, a beloved mother, accomplished artist, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in her home in Newtown on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the remarkable age of 97, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 5, 1928, in the Bronx, NY, Harriett was the daughter of Helen and Fred Greenwald. She grew up in Belle Harbor, NY, where she developed a lifelong love for the ocean. Harriett started college at Ohio State and went on to finish her bachelor's degree in Political Science at NYU. Harriett's life was marked by grace and elegance that transcended time, with the patience of a saint and loving nature of an angel.

An accomplished artist, Harriett expressed her creativity through various mediums, from pottery to knitting, needlepoint, and jewelry making. Her artistic endeavors often reflected inspiration from great artists like Matisse and Erte. She was also a passionate theater director for the HV Theater Guild, where she enjoyed sharing the stage for 60 years with her beloved late husband, Herman, whose singing and acting brought joy to their lives together. At the age of 91, she embraced new challenges by picking up the ukulele, a testament to her joyful, indomitable spirit. Anyone lucky enough to know Harriett was immediately taken by her beauty in every way, a truly extraordinary woman who left us with wonderful everlasting memories.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Beth Drake, and her son-in-law, Bill, with whom she resided, as well as her two loving sons, Mark and James, a wonderful daughter-in-law, Tricia, and six cherished grandchildren. Harriett also leaves behind loving cousins and countless dear friends whose lives she touched.
