Dr. Harold R. Sowell passed away on Friday, September 30th, 2011 at Danbury Hospital. Harold was a man loved by many, the process of his death was long and arduous, but he proved to be a valiant soldier throughout his suffering. He spent a long portion of his career as Dean of Administration at Asnuntuck Community College; followed by working as an accounting professor at Western Connecticut State University where he was able to share his passion with his students who he always said held a special place in his heart. He served his country as an Officer in the United States Naval Forces and was awarded a Wartime Veteran Service medal by the State of Connecticut. He also served his community as Chairman of the Board of Education for Region 15 School System. Additionally, he was a thirty-second degree Free and Accepted Mason and Master of the Lodge to which he belonged twice. He was dedicated to his family and his career as well as his Masonic Fraternity brothers. He leaves behind his loving family: wife Julie, daughters Brittany and Taylor, and Brother-in-law George Mendillo.

Services: A private Masonic service will be held to celebrate Dr. Sowell's exceptional life.
