Obituary

H. Cynthia Raub Beitel, age 71 of Southbury, died on November 14 at New Milford Hospital with her family at her side following a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Richard A. Beitel for 25 years.

Ms. Beitel was born in Lancaster, PA July 19, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Henri and Helen (Reinhart) Raub. She grew up in Lancaster with her family and moved to Cleveland, OH in 1958 before moving to Woodbury in 1961. She had lived in Southbury since 1982.

Ms. Beitel retired from nursing six years ago having worked in a number of different nursing positions and therapeutic areas. She worked at Danbury Hospital for ten years. She retired as a Psychiatric Nurse Supervisor from the state of Connecticut after 25 years of service. In addition, she performed private duty nursing and counseling. She was an active volunteer serving several organizations over many years including: Flanders Nature Center in Woodbury, First Congregational Church of Woodbury, United Methodist Church of Woodbury, Girl Scouts of America, Waterbury Junior League, and Waterbury inner-city missionary work.

Ms. Beitel is survived by her daughter: Mrs. Carol Beitel Boots and her husband Mr. Randy Boots of Pittsburgh, and her son: Mr. Raub Beitel, his wife Dr. Sharon Epple Beitel and her grandchildren Karli Raub, Max Taylor and Christian John of Newtown, CT. She is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver Mr. Guy Toye of Southbury. Ms. Beitel is survived by two brothers: Mr. John Raub of Strasburg, PA, and Mr. Albert Raub of Quarryville, PA and four sisters: Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Stubbs of Seattle, WA, Mrs. Joanna Ripple of Lancaster, PA, Mrs. Henrietta Morian of Glendale, AZ and Mrs. Amelia Stoner of Quarryville, PA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Mr. Richard Raub formerly of Schwenksville, PA.

A Christian memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18 at the Raub Family plot, Quarryville Cemetery, PA at 10:30 a.m. The scattering of her ashes will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
