WOODBURY

Gunilla Christine Strand Lewis, 53, of Woodbury, died Saturday, August 26 at the Bethel Health Care Center. She was the beloved wife of Steven W. Lewis. Mrs. Lewis was born June 16, 1953 in Stockholm, Sweden, daughter of Stina Victoria Svenson Strand of Sweden and the late Ragnar Knut Strand. Mrs. Lewis had lived in Sweden, England and Spain before moving to the United States. While in Sweden she worked for the Swedish Film Institute and the Swedish Police Force. From 1994 to 2005 she was a substitute teacher and full-time paraprofessional for the Region 14 school system and from 2001 to 2005 was an instructor in English as Second Language for the Foothills Adult Education program. Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by her son Mickael J. Lewis and daughter Madeline E. Lewis. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the North Congregational Church 11 Main St. North, Woodbury. A reception will follow the service in the church's Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Congregational Church, P.O. Box 473, Woodbury, 06798. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. is in charge of arrangements
