Obituary


Mr. Gordon R. Burritt, 73, of Woodbury died Thursday December 27th, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Marsha (Zera) Burritt.
Mr. Burritt was born October 20, 1939 in Waterbury, a son of the late William and Mildred (Therkildsen) Burritt. He was a veteran of the US Army, Past Master of the Liberty/Continental Masonic Lodge #76 in Waterbury and King Solomon's Lodge #7 in Woodbury. He served as past secretary of both lodges. He was a past patron of Order of Eastern Star Good Will Chapter #112 in Waterbury and Pomperaug Chapter #88 in Woodbury.
Mr. Burritt was active with Boy Scout Troop 54 and he spent many hours with the scouts at Camp Mattatuck in Waterbury. He was a retired Woodbury Constable, retired master mechanic, veteran member of the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department and vice chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners. His hobbies included caving, motorcycle riding and competition gun shooting.
He is survived by his children; Dorothy Burritt Pettit and her husband Richard, Janet Burritt Morgan and her husband Frank, William Burritt and his wife Ruth, H. Martin Burritt and his fiancé© Lauren; a sister in law Marilyn Zera, his grandchildren; Jessica Morgan , Kristina Burritt and Sharon Morgan, his great grandchildren; Michael, Josh, Kat, Johnny and Izzabel and several cousins.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department PO Box 561 Woodbury, Ct 06798.

Cemetery: Cemetery Not Applicable

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Services: Masonic and Eastern Star services will be held on Saturday January 5th at 10am at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 2 School St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Visitation: Friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5 - 8pm.
