Obituary

Gloria Mary Schuyler 90, of Woodbury, Connecticut, died May 30, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of the late Ackley C. ("John") Schuyler. Gloria was born August 10, 1921 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, daughter of Chester and Anita Callero (nee Leveroni). Gloria was graduated from high school in Everett, Massachusetts and attended the New England Conservatory of Music. During the postwar years, she worked at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and MGM Studios in Los Angeles and thereafter always keenly recalled her time amongst the stars of the day. However, she was most fond of her New England roots and later days as a New Yorker. She favored the simple joys in life-like savoring a maple walnut ice cream cone on visits to the coast of Maine with her beloved husband, John, with whom she shared the warm love of a marriage spanning more than 45 years. Late in life she also greatly enjoyed working as a greeter and hostess at The Curtis House in Woodbury where she would sometimes break into an impromptu song and dance on the way to the patron's table! Gloria is survived by her brother Chester Callero, daughter Gloria Filippo, son Christopher Schuyler, and grandchildren Stephen Filippo Jr., John Filippo and Kara Schuyler.
