Mrs. Gladys H. Kothe, 91, of Newtown died peacefully at home on November 6, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was born Gladys Helen Hollenweger to George and Gladys (Jones) Hollenweger on August 26, 1919 in New Rochelle, New York. She attended New Rochelle High School and spent many wonderful years on Lake Zoar in Southbury at her parent's summer home. She married Russell W. Kothe in September of 1940. Gladys became a Certified Medical Assistant in the 1970's and proudly went on to teach students in the medical field. After her husband Russell died in 1986, she moved to Heritage Village in Southbury and lived there for 17 years, where she was active in the photography club and enjoyed traveling. Gladys moved to Lockwood Lodge in Newtown in 2003 where she served on the resident council and made many friends.
She is survived by her daughter Bette Anne ("B") and son in law Frank Casapulla of Silverthorne, CO, a sister Mildred of Denver, CO and a sister in law, Dorcas of Bethlehem, as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends. She is predeceased by her sister, Marjorie and a bother, George ("Bud").

Funeral: South Britain Congregational Church
Services: A memorial service will be held on Thursday November 11, 2010 at 11am at South Britain Congregational Church, 693 East Flat Hill Rd., South Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
