Giora M. Lebl of Woodbury, CT, died Thursday, February 3, 2022 in New Milford, CT. Born on July 31, 1931, in Subotica in the former Yugoslavia, he grew up in a perilous time and was a concentration camp survivor, a member of the Kasztner group of Jews ransomed into Switzerland. After World War II, he immigrated to Israel where he served in the Israeli military and subsequently became a state secretary in the Ben Gurion government.

After moving to the United States, Giora received an undergraduate degree at Columbia, then earned his MBA at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton College. He held positions with Revlon, Spaulding, and eventually opened his own business consultancy helping corporations develop their international business in China, Russia, Italy, Germany, Israel, Argentina, Hungary, and many more countries. Although he enjoyed the challenges of his professional life, his great loves were family and friends.

Giora was a world traveler who enjoyed family, reading and above all being a generous host. He was most in his element as the majordomo for get-togethers and festivities. One of his nephews says of him, "he always brought such a whirlwind of excitement and energy and life" to these occasions.

He is survived by his wife, Leslie S. Lebl, his sons Marc and John Lebl, daughters-in-law Mary and Elizabeth Lebl, and grandchildren Andrew, Alanah, Cassandra and Katrina Lebl, as well as his father-in-law, two sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, and three nephews and three nieces.

A memorial service will be held on March 11, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St. Woodbury, Ct. 06798. Burial will follow at New North Cemetery.
