Mrs. Gertrude "Trudy" Laub
Heritage Village Leader
SOUTHBURY - Gertrude "Trudy" Laub, 96, of The Watermark at East Hill, died on May 8, 2015. She was the widow of Eric Laub.
Mrs. Laub was born in Vienna, Austria. She attended schools in Vienna, and lived in New York City before moving to Heritage Village in 1975. In her 32 year career in the book business, Mrs. Laub held management positions at Macy's, Brentano's, McGraw Hill, Baker & Taylor, and Rizzoli International. While active in many groups at Heritage Village, she was best known as program chair of the Sunday Forum, which she led for ten years. During that time, the Forum, which invited expert guest speakers on a wide range of topics for their regular meetings, became so popular that it had to move to larger quarters in Heritage Hall. The Forum honored Mrs. Laub on her retirement in 1995 for her leadership and many contributions.
Mrs. Laub moved to The Watermark in 2001 and made new friends there even as she maintained her connections at Heritage Village. She leaves a godson, Steve Whitman, of Guilford, CT and his family. The family would especially like to thank the dedicated staff at the Springs Health Care Center at the Watermark for their warm and attentive concern for her comfort and well being.
