Obituary


Georgia Bowen Brown, age 61, of Old Sherman Hill Road died March 31, 2016 at her home. Ms. Brown was the wife of the late Clayton Q. Brown. Ms. Brown or Gigi, as her friends called her, was born October 29, 1954 in Waterbury Connecticut, daughter of the late Edmond Clark and Patricia Dunn Bowen. She had wonderful memories of growing up on her parents' farm, "Leafland Farm" in Woodbury. An avid horseback rider since childhood, she was a graduate of St. Margaret McTernan School in Waterbury where she was Senior Class President and a member of the National Honors Society. She attended Endicott College in Beverly, Ma. In her younger years she volunteered during the summer at Waterbury Hospital on the children's floor. She loved to take walks, lie in the sun, go for long motorcycle rides, do crossword puzzles, crochet, and bake; her specialty being coffee cake. She loved gardening her roses, sleeping on Tom's boat, salt water fishing, most of all taking long rides with her mom on their horses. Gigi loved animals, especially horses, dogs and cats. She had worked as a hostess at the Gateway and China Dragon restaurants, both in Waterbury, and had worked at a Touch of Home catering in Woodbury. She had also assisted her late husband in his tank removal business, and had worked in her family's business of buying and selling yearlings at Keeneland Sales in Kentucky and Saratoga.

She is survived by her fiancé© Thomas A. Sessa Sr. of Woodbury, her brother Edmond Bowen of Terryville, her sister in law Elena Bowen, her nieces Sydney and Jordan Bowen, her best friend Lisa Cassidy, and her cat
Skeeter, all of Woodbury. Besides her parents and husband she was pre deceased by two brothers, Robert and Jonathan Bowen.

Cemetery: New North Cemetery

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Funeral: United Church of Christ

Services: A memorial service will be held at United Church of Christ, 262 Main St No., Southbury on Wednesday April 6, 2016 at 10: 30 am. A private burial will be held in the New North Cemetery, Woodbury. Gigi asked that everyone wear bright and happy colors to her services.
