May 25, 1943 – July 8, 2015
George Gray Smith, 72 of Southbury, passed away on July 8, 2015 after a long and courageous fight against cancer, with his loving wife Helen by his side.
George was born in Boston, Massachusetts the son of the late Milton and Nellie Smith of Sedgwick, ME.
George was graduated in 1964 from the Wentworth Institute of Technology where he majored in Building Construction. George spent his career working in the Construction industry as a project Superintendent. He completed projects throughout Virginia and New England including the construction of the North River Waste Water Treatment Plant in NY, and construction of the Union Carbide World Headquarters in Danbury, CT.
George is survived by his wife of 51 years, Helen Smith of Southbury, his son David D. Smith and his wife Debra and grandson Geoffrey of Swansea, MA and by his son James T. Smith, his wife Angela and granddaughter Mallory of Southbury. He was predeceased by his son George M. Smith of Sedgwick, ME and his brother Walter Smith of Deer Isle, ME. George is also survived by his brother's John Smith of Avon, MA and his brother Gordon Smith of Folsom, CA along with their wives and families.
George loved his family and had a great sense of humor. He also enjoyed helping friends and family with small building projects. For the last 10 years he has loved spending time with his granddaughter Mallory (His favorite Granddaughter!)

Services: A memorial service will be held on Sunday July 19th at Munson-Lovetere Southbury at 12: 00pm.
Visitation: Friends may call at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere at 235 Main St. Southbury on Saturday July 18th from 4 pm- 6 pm.
