Oxford- George F. Dunleavy, 78, of Oxford, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the dear husband of 52 years to Margaret "Peggy" (Smith) Dunleavy.

George was born on November 6, 1944 in New York City to the late George and Mary (Metzger) Dunleavy.

George attended Power Memorial Academy in New York City. He worked as a HVAC Mechanic in the Danbury area for many years. He was affiliated with the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 777 Union. George was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

George had many hobbies, particularly being in the great outdoors. He loved boating and fishing, especially at his favorite place, Breezy Point in Queens, New York. George also had a love of flying, taking lessons in his spare time. Most of all, George loved spending time with his family.

Besides his dear wife Peggy, George leaves behind his son, Brian Dunleavy of Oxford, his grandsons, Brian Jr. and Patrick, his sisters, Irene Pace of Warwick, New York and Loretta Dunleavy of Santa Fe, New Mexico, his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N. Southbury, CT from 11:00 am until the services begin at 1:00 pm.
