IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George Edward
Boate
August 7, 1924 – January 9, 2010
Mr. George Edward Boate, 85, of Southbury died Saturday January 9th at his home after a long period of illness. He was the husband of Anella Boate for 55 years.
Mr. Boate was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived there until 1993 when he and Nell moved to Heritage Village in Southbury, Ct to be closer to their children. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School and later enlisted in the army to serve in WWII. After being injured on Leyte Island during the Philippine invasion, he received the Purple Heart and was awarded an honorable discharge. He was especially proud of his service to his country. Upon his return to the states, he briefly attended the Pratt Institute of Design.
The majority of Mr. Boate's professional career was spent with Commercial Travelers Insurance Company as a Claims Adjuster. While living in Southbury, Mr. Boate became an avid golfer and craftsman, taking full advantage of the Heritage Village golf course and woodshop. His friends and neighbors came to know him as someone who could always be counted on when a favor was needed. He was a man who fully embraced all the joy life had to offer, and spread that joy to all who knew him. During this last year of his life, his wife lovingly cared for him in their home.
His greatest joy came from his family. In addition to his wife, Nell, he leaves behind his daughter Carleen Falconer and her husband Robert, along with their children Brittany and Kevin, all of Roxbury, his son Kenan Boate and his wife Mary Ellen, along with their children Ryan and Christopher, all of Pleasantville, NY, and his daughter Marise Jung and her husband Richard, along with their children Jillian and Joanna, all of Southbury, Ct. A better husband, father and grandfather could not have been had. He was deeply loved by his entire family. Also left behind are his sisters Evelyn Myers and Margaret Schneider of Cape Coral, FL, his brother William Boate of Prescott Valley, AZ and his sister Gladys Silva of Fort Myers Beach, FL. He was predeceased by his parents William and Gladys Boate and an infant son Gerard Boate.
