Obituary


Devoted to his family
George Armand Blanchette, 83, of Woodbury, died peacefully Friday December 19, 2014 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. George was born in Waterbury, CT in 1931, a son of the late Joseph O. Blanchette and Marie Blanchette (Dionne). He attended Sainte Anne's School in Waterbury, CT and was a graduate of Leavenworth Technical High School, class of 1949, also in Waterbury, CT. He served first in the United States Navy and then in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He obtained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a Waterbury Police Officer for several years and later worked as an electrician for Connecticut Light & Power, retiring after twenty-eight years of dedicated service. He enjoyed competing in rifle and pistol shooting competitions and was an avid instructor as well. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and loved to fly small airplanes and was a private flight instructor. He built and flew a variety of remote control aircrafts. He was a talented mechanic and all around handyman. He enjoyed fresh and salt water boating and fishing and was often found riding his motorcycle on warm summer days. Amongst all of these interests, he was also a member of the Elks Club for many years. For thirty-eight years he was married to the late Cecile M. Blanchette (Pronovost). He is survived by three children; Stephen Blanchette of Bethlehem, CT, Susan Blanchette of Morris, CT, and Mark Blanchette of Bantam, CT. In addition he is survived by his sister Jeanine Boulanger and was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by three brothers.

Funeral: St. Teresa's Church

Services: A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10: 00 am at Saint Teresa of Avila Roman Catholic Church, 146 Main Street South, Woodbury, CT

Visitation: Calling hours will be held at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street, Woodbury, CT on Friday December 26, 2014 from 6: 00 pm to 8: 00 pm.
