IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George R.
Bequary
October 9, 1946 – June 12, 2024
George Bequary, age 77, of Southbury, CT, passed away peacefully in his home on June 12, 2024, surrounded by loving family. He was born October 9, 1946, in Waterbury, CT, to the late Nicholas and Agatha (Puleshi) Bequary. He was the youngest of four children.
A lifelong creative spirit and artist, George enjoyed a long and successful career in stained and etched glass, working for many years from his home studio surrounded by his beautiful rose gardens. His original leaded and etched glass designs are in homes, restaurants and businesses throughout New England. George's exceptional talent for restoring antique channeled lead and stained-glass windows was sought after by churches throughout Connecticut.
When Parkinson's Disease made his glass and sculpture work too difficult, he shifted his artistic focus to large scale oil on canvas murals of water lilies, roses and spiritual images. George was also a poet who captured so much beauty through his writing, throughout his life and even in his final weeks. George loved playing dominoes, petting bumble bees, and collecting cat whiskers and he brightened the lives of his loved ones with his unforgettable and mischievous sense of humor.
George leaves behind his wife and soulmate of over 50 years, Carol (Barlow) Bequary, and his beloved son and daughter, Damon and Cassandra, to honor his legacy and cherish his memory.
He also leaves his sister Konstance (Bequary) Lucas of Worcester, MA, his brother Victor Bequary of Northfield, CT, his brother and sister-in-law Alex and Kathy (Santoro) Bequary of Prospect, CT, and his sister-in-law Evelyn Barlow of San Francisco, CA, along with many loved nieces, nephews, extended family and lifelong friends.
A private celebration of George's life will be held at a later date. In honor of George, donations may be made to Special Olympics CT in his name.
