Gennaro E. Pesce, 84, of Middlebury, died
Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Jean (Pesente) Pesce.
Mr. Pesce was born October 27, 1924 in Middlebury, son of the late Giovanni and Nicolina (Perugini) Pesce. He has resided in Middlebury his whole life. He was a mechanic and had been employed at Middlebury Garage for 50 years.
Mr. Pesce was a US Army veteran of WW II during the invasion of Normandy and attained the rank of Private First Class, 1st Company L, and rifleman. He received the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with four bronze stars and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a communicant of St. John of the Cross Church.
Besides his wife of 49 years, he leaves a son, Mark Pesce of Middlebury; a sister Eleanor Pesce Guerrera, and several nieces and nephews.

Services: A memorial mass will be held at St. John of the Cross Church, 1089 Whittemore Rd., Middlebury on Tuesday, March 17 at 10: 00 a.m. A private graveside service will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury at the convenience of the family.
