Gene Dale Marquis, 75, passed away suddenly on October 8th at his home in Bethlehem, CT.  The son of the late Fred and Emily (Dolly) Marquis. Born in Waterbury, he grew up in Woodbury and graduated from Woodbury High School in 1966. He served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

Gene loved the outdoors, working in his garden, working on cars, cutting wood, or just walking. He loved animals of all kinds from horses to chipmunks. He was always lending a hand to whoever needed help. Gene was good father, a good friend and a good person. He was quite the storyteller and always had a smile on his face no matter what. As a free spirit, he always enjoyed an adventure.

Gene leaves behind his wife Linnea Marquis of Woodbury, his children, John Marquis of AZ, Donald Marquis of CT, Trisha Marquis of FL and Jonathon Mott of CT, grandchildren; William Marquis, Johnathan Marquis, Hailey Marquis Matsuyama and her husband Didac and Daniel Marquis CT. He also leaves behind his brothers Ricky Marquis and Monte Marquis of Woodbury, his sisters Glory Caputo of Waterbury, Dulcydoll (Deedee) Buchta of FL and Michelle Marquis of Woodbury and his brother in law Douglas Holloway of Florida. Gene was predeceased by his daughter Julie Marquis and his brothers, Terry and Dean Marquis.

"A Celebration of Life" will be held at the Oakville VFW at 85 Davis St. in Oakville, CT on Sunday, October 24th from 1-5pm.
