Obituary

Gail Louise Westover, 66, of Southbury, CT peacefully passed away in her home early Tuesday morning, February 27th, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Gail was born in Mahopac, NY on July 23, 1957. A daughter of the late Ruth M. Westover and Robert E. Westover Sr. of Southbury. Gail was the oldest of 3 children.

Gail worked in the hospitality industry for most of her life, which is a skillset she passed down to both of her daughters. As the years passed, she shifted her interest from restaurants to hospitality in nursing and rehabilitation facilities. This better suited her love of taking care of others.

After growing up in Connecticut, she moved to New Hampshire in the mid 80's, where she grew her family and raised her daughters before returning to Connecticut after the passing of her father. Upon returning to Connecticut, she moved back into her childhood home, where she remained a resident of "the hill" (if you know you know) for the remainder of her life.

Gail enjoyed all things nautical, including spending much time on the water and sunbathing every chance she could. She loved to go on weekend camping trips when her children were younger as well as hopping on the back of a motorcycle with her brother.

She was an active member of Grace Christian Church formerly known as Grace Christian Fellowship in Newtown; she was even a Sunday school teacher there in the early 90's. She loved her country music and never missed watching a Yankees game with her mother. Most recently you could find her playing her favorite card game and teaching it to anyone who came to visit or watching Hallmark Christmas movies no matter what time of year it was.

Gail is survived by her 2 daughters, Tanya Gallagher, and Alicia Minner and her husband Mike. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christian, Joshua, Maya Pulgarin and Brayden Minner and great grandmother to Koda Pulgarin. Gail is predeceased by her brother Robert E. Westover, Jr, and sister Ann M. Gagner Calling hours will be held on Thursday March 7, 2024 from 5-7pm at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N., Southbury. All friends and family are welcome.
