Obituary

Frieda Hansen Herrmann, widow of Emil Herrmann died peacefully July 29, 2008 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury at the age of 89. Frieda was born in Gaardefeld, Germany, July 13, 1919, daughter of Clara Nicoline Johannsen and Christian Hansen. After her fathers' death, her mother sold the family farm and they moved to Leck, Germany.

Frieda worked as bookkeeper for Ludwig & Feddersen Construction Firm in Leck. In 1956 she and her daughter Ann came to the United States where they lived in Rockaway Beach, NY until 1962. She and her late husband moved to Brookfield where they lived until 1984; she lived in Heritage Village in Southbury until l996.

Mrs. Herrmann worked in cost accounting at Mosler Safe Company, Bethel, until her retirement in 1984.

Frieda enjoyed needlework, sewing, gardening and was an excellent cook, but her favorite past time was always the great enjoyment she had being with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren when they were growing up. They remained her pride and joy until her death.

Her only child Ann Herrman Stax predeceased her in 1998. She is survived by her son-in-law William J. Stax and his wife Jeanne of Southbury, granddaughter Carol Ann Stax Brown and her husband Charles of Delonega, GA, grandson William F. Stax and his wife Kathryn of Roswell, GA, and her great-grandchildren Will and Rachel Stax. She was predeceased by two sisters in Germany and is survived by a sister-in-law Elfriede Vogel in Germany, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and life long friends Vera and Otto Peterson. She was predeceased by her first husband Max Herrmann who was killed in WWII and by her second husband Emil Herrrmann.

Frieda's family thanks the staff at the Lutheran Home of Southbury for the 12 years of loving care they provided to her. Donations in her memory may be made to Lutheran Home of Southbury, 990 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488.

Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury

Services: A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 10: 30 am at The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North.

Visitation: Friends may call at the funeral home from 10am until the time of service.
