Frederic Rahn Martin, 86, of Ichabod Road died at home on Tuesday, December 24, 2013. Fred was born on March 12, 1927 in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Harvey and Beatrice Spencer Martin. Fred retired in 1989 from the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers AFL-CIO, located in Washington, D.C. He attended Union College and Rutgers University. Fred loved his family, classical music, writing poetry, playing the cello and was an avid reader. He was one of the founding members of the Southbury Land Trust. Fred is survived by his loving wife Shirley Bernard Martin, his three children, Scott Martin and Randall Martin, both of Southbury, and Caroline Martin of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Rebecca Williams of Danbury, Matthew Martin of Idaho, Ryan Martin of North Carolina and Johanna Martin of Southbury; his great grandchildren, Brody, Ava and Declan Williams of Danbury. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Martin Pick and his granddaughter, Jessica Martin.
