Obituary

Frank Halstead, 68, entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Skyview Center, Wallingford. Frank was born November 12, 1944 at Danbury Hospital, son of the late Mildred Casey Halstead and the late Leo Dawson Halstead Jr. He grew up in Sandy Hook, where he attended Newtown Schools and later moved to Oxford. He was a past member and 1st Assistant Chief of the Sandy Hook Fire Department and a lifetime member of the Oxford Center Fire Company. At Center, he held several offices during his active membership beginning in 1975. In 2007, Frank retired after 24years as a grounds/maintenance worker for the State of Connecticut. He enjoyed fishing, especially at Damariscotta Lake in Maine and watching baseball, especially the Yankees and Mets. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Armstrong and her husband Greg and his son Scott Halstead and his wife Lisa, all of Waterbury; his loving granddaughters, Gillian and Rebecca Armstrong and Emily Halstead; his brother William Halstead Sr of Sandy Hook; his former wife, Joanne Halstead of Oxford; several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank's family would like to thank the staff of Skyview Center for their devoted care over the past two years. A

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oxford Center Fire Company, 484 Oxford Road, Oxford, 06478.

Cemetery: Cemetery Not Applicable

Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury

Services: A prayer service will be held Wednesday, February 27 at 7: 00 p.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North.

Visitation: Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
