IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank S.
Cerchia
May 17, 1918 – February 11, 2014
Frank Silvio Cerchia, 95, formerly of Heritage Village, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 with his daughter Patricia at his side at her home in New Milford, CT where he has resided for the past seven years. One of 15 siblings, he was born on May 17, 1918, in The Bronx to Gennaro (Charles) Cerchia and Francis Maude Hughes. On February 4, 1940, he married Theresa Lyons at Mt. Carmel Church in The Bronx.
Frank was a World War II veteran who served his country in the United States Army for over 12 years. Upon returning home he worked as a security officer for First National City Bank in New York City. He was known for his shenanigans, making people laugh, and helping others.
Frank is survived by his daughter and two sons: Patricia Marolla of New Milford, CT, Stephan Cerchia and his wife Lisa of Simsbury, CT, and Charles Cerchia and his wife Janet of Staten Island. He adored his grandchildren: his granddaughter Terri Ann and her husband Jodi, grandsons, Edward, Charles, and John and cherished his great-grandchildren Jack, Aidan, and Tyler. His daughter in law Astra predeceased him.
A special thank you to his loyal caregiver, Jeff McBreairty, the health and hospice staff of Masonicare, Dr. Casey Ott and PA Virginia Hannon of Primary Care of Southbury, and the New Milford Volunteer Ambulance and Danbury Ambulance Service for their care, compassion, and support over the years, as well as Connecticut Community Care whose support and services provided the opportunity for Frank to enjoy his last years at home.
