Bethlehem- Frances L. Thomas, 77, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully at her home on August 24, 2026. Born on April 28, 1949, in Norway, Maine, she was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Elsie Smith.

Frances's journey took her through several towns, including Bridgeport, Shelton, Milford, Beacon Falls, and Southbury, where she left a lasting impact on those who crossed her path. Frances had a lifelong connection with animals, particularly horses, and dedicated much of her time to animal rescue efforts. Her participation in the Connecticut Gymkhana Association showcased her passion for equestrian activities, allowing her to connect with fellow enthusiasts and further her love for animals. Her gentle spirit and deep compassion shone brightly in her work as a Veterinary Technician, as she devoted her life to caring for animals and helping their owners navigate the challenges of pet ownership.

Frances was also a dedicated foster and boarding caregiver for dogs, sharing her home and her heart with those in need. Her compassion for animals was only matched by her love for her family and friends. She brought joy and comfort to both two-legged and four-legged friends alike, embodying the true spirit of unconditional love.

In addition to her commitment to animal welfare, Frances was actively involved in the Beacon Falls Junior Women’s Club, where she contributed her time and energy to improve the community.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was savoring amaretto with milk or spending peaceful moments in nature. However, it was the time spent with her family that brought her the greatest happiness. Frances is survived by her husband, Alan Thomas, her son Brett Thomas of Bethel, CT. Many other relatives and friends. Frances was predeceased by her beloved brothers, Jack Smith from Texas and Al Smith of Devon, her sister Barbara Domishine of Bethlehem. Though they have passed, their memories remain alive in the hearts of their family.
