Obituary

Mrs. Florence Kahn, 95, of Southbury, died Monday August 4, 2008 at Pomperaug Woods Health Center. She was the wife of the late George N. Kahn.

Born September 2, 1912 in Brooklyn, NY, Mrs. Kahn was the daughter of the late Bernhard and Sophia Golden. She received her BA degree from Brooklyn College in 1933. She received her Master's in Fine Arts in 1940 from Columbia University as well as her MBA in 1957. She served as account executive from 1940-1942 at Gussow-Kahn, was Director of E Division at Bundles for Britain from 1942-1945; was the VP Curator for Tomorrow's Masterpiece, 1945-1947; Vice President of George N. Kahn Co. 1948-1985; President of the Gift Council 1959-1960; Research Council, VP 1960-1964; AAUW; New York League of BPW; AAUP, New York League of Women Voter's; AWNY: Beta Gamma Sigma; One-Man Show, Caravan House Galleries, 1969. Mrs. Kahn is listed in the book of Outstanding Educators of America and Who's Who Among American Women. Multi-talented, she was an artist, business woman, entrepreneur, a perennial student, college professor, a voracious reader and an independent thinker.

Mrs. Kahn leaves a son Bruce Kahn of Stamford, CT and his wife Evelyn, a daughter Phyllis Kahn of NY, three granddaughters and a great granddaughter.

She was predeceased by her older sister, Eleanor Ganz.
