Florence Mabel Donlay, 88, died peacefully Saturday May 21, 2016 at Sharon Hospital. Ms. Donlay was born March 12, 1928 in Millinocket, Maine, daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Allen) Everett. A 1947 graduate of Watertown High School, she enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, knitting, puzzles and was an avid bird watcher. She was married to Wesley Meskun and then later to Thomas Donlay. She had various jobs, including working in Heritage Village as a housekeeper and companion, at the Lutheran Home as a cook and as a nurse's aide, the Southbury Training school as a cook, at Olin Gun factory, and at Princeton Knitting Mills (Fleisher Fabrics). Growing up in Bethlehem, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the PTA, the Girl Scouts and the 4H Club. She loved helping people and was always collecting items for local charities, even in her later years.
She is survived by 2 sons, Gerald Meskun of Colebrook, Keith Donlay of New Milford, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by 2 sons, James and Gregory Meskun.
