Mr. Ferdinando Francesco Cogliati, 97, of Woodbury died Thursday February 22nd at The Lutheran Home of Southbury. He was the widower of Mildred (Plumeri) Cogliati.
Mr. Cogliati was born October 10, 1909 in Torrington son of the late Carlo and Esterina (Gerelle) Cogliati. He moved to Woodside Queens, NY in 1920. He worked for Leviton Electric Company in Brooklyn, NY as a machinist for many years. He served in World War 2 from 1942 - 1945 in the 9th Air Force as a Corporal in Ordnance. He served in the Battle of the Bulge and was a translator speaking Italian and French. He also served in Germany/Ashwitz, France, England, and Holland. He retired to Winsted in 1970 and later moved to Woodbury in 1990 where he lived and worked part time with his son, Fred, at Antiques on the Green.
He is survived by his son Fred Cogliati and his wife Marguerite of Woodbury, his grandson Steven and great-grandson Kyle of Bristol.
