Evelyn D. Smith, 84, of Bethlehem, formerly of Waterbury, died Sunday, June 17 at her home. She was the widow of Hubert Smith.
Mrs. Smith was born April 30, 1923 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Arthur E. and Mary E. (Kearney) Denker.
Mrs. Smith worked as a private secretary for the Volanio's Machine Company in Waterbury. A resident of Bethlehem for 67 years, Mrs. Smith was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity and a member of the Catholic Women of the church.
She is survived by 2 nieces, Judith A. Hanlon of Bridgewater, NJ and Barbara Segal of Branchburg, NJ; a nephew, John Denker of OR; 4 great nephews, Robert Hanlon, William Hanlon, Brian Keenam, Patrick Madden, 3 great nieces, Heidi Snyder, Theresa Wranity and Bernadette Mimna; 7 great great nephews, Robert K. Snyder, David A. Snyder, Daniel James Snyder, Patrick A. Hanlon, Lance Mimna, Grant Mimna, Samuel Madden; 3 great great nieces, Erin E. Hanlon, Felecia Wranity, Cassie Wranity; 2 step-sons, Maurice and Richard Smith. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Arthur E. Denker, Jr.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity, 48 East St. Bethlehem. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Calling hour Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bradley Gardens First Aid and Rescue Squad, P.O.
