Evelyn Cecilia (Worgull) Oakley of Southbury, Ct died Saturday, January 3, 2009, at River Glen Health Center after her battle with cancer. She was 81 years old. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Francis.
Born and raised in Queens, NY by her late parents, Gus and Cecilia Worgull, she also had one sister, Virginia. She is earned an RN from St. Mary's School of Nursing of Brooklyn NY and a BS in School Nurse Teaching from St. John's University.
Married in 1953, she was a devoted mother and is also survived by six daughters (Virginia Kemper, Patty Mathieu, Grace Dennison, Cecilia Marino, Eileen Brooks, and Charlotte Slater) and one son (Ed). She also has 14 grandchildren.
For the last 50 years she resided in Brewster and South Salem, NY, St. Petersburg, FL, and Southbury, CT. She was active in nursing in various hospitals and nursing homes in Westchester County, NY and retired in the early 1990s.
