She was raised by her Grandma and Grandpa Leiber in Seymour, CT, where she attended and graduated High School. Evelyn met and married the love of her life, the late Emil E. Detlefsen, whom she was married to for 60 years. She worked in the Bethlehem Elementary School cafeteria for over 20 years. Evelyn enjoyed baking and cooking, especially for her family or anyone who would stop by. She loved to garden, from large vegetable gardens to beautiful flower beds she took great pride in her beautiful yard. Evelyn was a devout Christian and enjoyed going to church. She loved mallard ducks, she kept them as pets for many years. Evelyn enjoyed her daily visits from her grand pups Pepper and Spot. She spent many years raising and tagging monarch butterflies a passion she passed down to her granddaughters and great grand kids. Evelyn had a heart of gold, a sweet smile and always a kind word. Above all else family was Evelyn's everything! She loved her family beyond measure. She talked about every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all the time. She took interest in everything they did from truck pulls to baseball games, horse shows and everything in between. Her heart was full of pride for each of her family members.
