Mr. Eugene C. Newman, a long-time resident of The Hearth and Heritage Village, Southbury, CT, and Irvington, NY, passed away on February 5, 2012 at 99 years young. Among his many passions were his adoring wife Corinne Newman (deceased), the outdoors, fishing, and the NY Giants, who just won the Super Bowl for him. A WWII U.S. Army veteran whose decorations included a purple heart, Gene was in command of the 563rd anti-aircraft battalion, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Gene is survived by his loving son Tom, daughter Jolie, daughter-in-law Amy, and grandsons Jake and Miles.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Gene's name to the Conn. Department of Veterans' Affairs 287 West Street Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

Services: A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, March 17 at 11: 00 a.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North.
