Obituary

Esther (Terrell) Daniels Townsend, 82, of Woodbury, Woodbury Waitress and Historian,
passed away peacefully at her home on November 19, surrounded by her family in person and in spirit, after a long and graceful battle with Parkinson's disease.
Esther was born on October 10, 1931 and was a lifelong Woodbury resident (and enthusiast). She was the daughter of the late Grace (Brewer) and Howard Terrell of Woodbury. Esther was the wife of the late Leroy Townsend and former wife of Richard Daniels. She is survived by her son, David and his wife Betsy Daniels and her daughter, Deborah and her Husband, Richard Granger and her grandchildren, Marie and her husband, Bill Engel, Jessica Earl, Melanie and her husband, Mike Shugrue, Rebecca and her husband, John Clampett. Esther had 7 great-children, Amber, Allison, Eliza, Brynn, Elliott, Gavin and Autumn.
Esther is survived by her sisters, Edie and her husband, John Willenbrock, Barbara Parker, her brother Robert Terrell and his partner, Olga, her sister-in-law, Lou Terrell. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Donald Terrell. She was also pre-deceased by her beloved cat(s) Smokey #1-17.
Esther loved her many nephews, nieces and their families. Esther cherished her special friends and traveling companions, Jan and Beverly, as well as her many friends and customers from the Charcoal Chef where she was a waitress for 40 years. She proudly wore her uniform everywhere.
Esther was known by all as a kind and humble woman who loved thrift stores, flea markets and tag sales where she found many treasures. Esther was a lover of nature and art. She loved country music, dancing, playing cards with friends and family and going out on Sunday night for pizza. She loved waiting on her family in her home and was famous for her special drink the "Esther Townsend" which was made with whatever she had. Esther was especially fond of Woodbury history and was a co-contributor of the book on the History of Woodbury. Esther's most important purpose in Life was her family and they will miss her greatly.
Her family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care given to Esther by Marie, Betsy and Darlene and Seasons Hospice and her Hospice nurse, Pat.
